We chose to stay in Swan Valley this time and gave up our initial plan to drive all the way to Monkey Mia after doing our research. I think it is a wise decision given the long distance to drive to and forth Monkey Mia. We enjoyed our stay in Novotel Vines Resort in Swan Valley very much. Our hotel rooms are spacious and we are so close to nature. During our last night with the resort, we stayed at their 3 bedroom apartment that overlooked a lake and we could see ducks swimming in the lake and kangaroos jumping across the golf course. I like our visit to the Caversham Wildlife Park because of the variety of Australian animals, farm animals and bird species they keep.
Before we left Swan Valley, we drove to Pinnacles as we heard so much about the place but never visited it. It was not a long drive but weather was unbearably hot. The road was narrow and there was nothing interesting along the way so it was quite tough on the driver. However, once we arrived at Pinnacles, we were immediately taken in by the natural wonder in sight. The limestone formation was numerous and varied and exhibited a lot of character under different lighting and season.
After leaving Swan Valley, we traveled back to Perth City for some city shopping and a visit to the Perth Mint. We made this gold plated coin for Isaac to pass on to him as a keepsake because the whole idea just seems so appealing during our visit there. We realized many grandparents do the same for their grandchildren in Australia. We stayed in an apartment at South Perth this time and found it really convenient to travel around.
Food wise, nothing fantastic in Perth so we always do our own cooking. Supermarket trips are a must almost everyday. We brought along a rice cooker and it did wonders for us. Jimmy and my MIL whipped up curry chicken, chicken rice, noodles, 3 dishes one soup meals with it.
We ended our trip by visiting Fremantle so that we could go to the E-shed market and Fremantle market on weekend. Of course, we can't leave Fremantle without stocking up on seafood right so we went to Fishing Boat Harbour to buy lobsters and prawns for dinner. Did you guess it? My dear husband stock up his beef, lamb and chicken before we fly home.
As for Isaac, he was relatively well behaved during the trip but refused to drink enough water so fell sick after we were back in Singapore.
Jimmy and I will definitely bring Isaac back when he is older and will attempt to drive to Exmouth or Albany with him the next time.
Till the next time, Bye Bye Perth!!!
