Poo Poo Business

I never imagine myself having to fret over trivial issues like poo poo, but I did for the last 3 weeks, because little Isaac did not pass out any poo poo on his own. It all began after his full month, days passed without any sight of any poo from this little baby. When the fourth day of the first no poo week arrived, we panicked and inserted the glycerine gel into his small anus. The sight of yellow pasty poo oozing out from his bottom made our day, however ridiculous it may sound.

Little did we expect to have to go through the whole process again, when he did not pass out any poo on the second week after full month, this time around we waited for 5 days to pass before we did the inserts amidst criticism from concerned friends, who found him too young for the glycerine insert.

When he did not poo in the third week after his full month, we started to be very worried and asked around for natural remedy to stimulate his poo poo. Many advice from well meaning friends and relatives came in, among which we applied the following:

1. feed him with water after formula feed
2. feed him with water first thing after his morning bath before feeding
3. dilute gripe water and give to him after his feed
4. massage his tummy in clockwise direction after bath and lift up his legs to touch his naval
5. apply Ru Yi oil on his tummy
6. lift up his legs and do bicycle movement
7. saying " Er Er" to him to stimulate his bowel movement and lift up his legs
8. breastfeed more
9.PRAY PRAY PRAY for his bowel movement(which Grandpa, Grandma, Daddy and Mummy do daily for the past 3 weeks)

Guess what? We still have to do the glycerine insert on the fifth day of the 3rd no poo week which was yesterday. The clock is reset and we are quite resigned to the fact that it may take some time before his body regulates his bowel movement. Meanwhile, we the Kiasu parents, have purchased and stock up a whole box of glycerine inserts to treat our baby's poo poo problem.

Yesterday was a super busy day for us, shuttling between hospital(yes hospital, amidst current swine flu scare) and a church friend's wedding. I did not manage to latch or pump out milk for Isaac until late at night and to my surprise, the milk supply was 120 ml during one pump session( it is quite rare for me to hit this level).

My little baby, as usual, drank my limited supply dry but gave us a pleasant surprise by pooing(on his own) at 4am. You cannot imagine our relief when we saw the poo!!! We are going for celebration tonight for this golden poo..ha ha ha and pray for more to come;)

You should take a picture of that sought after poo - Show it to isaac and say, give me this every day!

Faith did her messy big puddle poo last nite too, somewhere between 2am and 5am. It's a BIG mess. But thank God for that. A relief for us too. SO i totally understand how you both felt.
